What does artificial intelligence actually means?

Learning, planning, reasoning, knowledge,
perception, natural language processing, and ability to manipulate and move the
objects are the basic problems or goals of Artificial Intelligence. The field
of artificial intelligence was founded on the claim that human brain can be so
accurately defined that a machine can be made to imitate it. This has raised a
metaphysical argument about nature on human mind and ethics of creating human
like being.
Another issue of artificial intelligence
that is argued about is the scope of AI. The basic reason behind this dispute
is the increasing capability of the machine, due to which the tasks that
require so called intelligence are regularly being removed from the definition
of AI. For example, optical character recognition is no more termed as
artificial intelligence because of its now becoming a regular technology.
The main idea behind having AI in our
lives is to make human life easier. AI can be proved as stimulant to scientific
and technological discoveries. It has many functions and definitely much more
efficient, thus saving time and resources for humans hence making it possible
to devote more time to do important things that cannot be done by AI agents. Increase of work Efficiency, Error
Detection, Digital Assistants, Difficult Explorations, Error Reduction, No
breaks Requirement, etc. are some basic benefits of artificial
intelligence.
In next few decades AI is going to empower
our lives, while the argument “that the
Artificial Intelligent Agent in future may lead to mass unemployment” may
continue to be a hot topic amongst various groups of society, we still have
time to prepare ourselves as to avoid the possible risks of AI.
Most experts agree that an AI agent can
never showcase human emotions love or hatred, so it can never be expected to be
kind or malicious.
Two scenarios can that be considered as
how AI might become a risk can most likely be:
1.
AI in
many cases is programmed to do something destructive. For example, autonomous
weapons are nothing but programmed AI killing machine, in wrong hands these can
be used as mass destructors or can start an AI war.
2.
A
Beneficial AI may develop a devastating method to achieve its goal. This may
happen we fail to fully stimulate the AI’s goal with ours. For example if we
ask an fully obedient AI agent to comp complete a task as fast as possible it
make end up covered in vomit, and not completing the actual task.
As these scenarios illustrate the concern
just arises when AI agents are not properly aligned with nature of human mind.
Such issues brings out new research topics
such as AI safety.
There are still many issues that are to be
resolved, many questions that are to be answered, many arguments to be won,
many possibilities to be discovered and many limits to be conquered to see Artificial Intelligence as part of
daily lives and making most of our tasks much more easier than today.
