Today we all are a slave of modern gadgets. This era is also known as “Digital era”, in which, each and everything is done with a single click. We can order foods, books, electronics etc in just a click. So, in order to gain customers trust and awareness or make products visible, we need digital tools.
People are more active in social media rather than public meetings. Therefore, digital media or digital marketing is a tool to bring the products or services in the eyes of public, because “Jo dikheyga wo bikyega!” In simple words, digital marketing is a way of promoting products or services via the internet using various techniques and tools.
Everything is online, so needless to say, marketing should also be online.
Why digital marketing?
We all know at what pace we are growing in the context of E-commerce. We know the scope of online shopping in today’s world. For buying even small stuff, people don’t go to any offline stores rather they shop online.
People get to know about the products/services of different brands by just sitting in their homes, merely because of digital marketing techniques established by the companies
Experimented & Working Techniques of Digital Marketing:
The first marketing technique to increase the sale is SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO is known as the god of revenue. Why I told this as a god of revenue because it is actually a process of improving the search result ranking for the desired keyword. Meaning, no one even clicks on the second page of google to solve his or her queries.
For example, if we search for “the best online shopping website” jabong.com and eBay lands on the first page and on very top. So if a customer wants to buy any products probably he or she will visit jabong.com because the customer queried for best site and jabong is second in the list. This will gradually increase the sale of the website. Google always runs algorithms like panda updates, penguin updates to throw the weak content website, and always ranks the website with great content and supported by backlinks. So we always need organic traffic (traffic through a search engine).
The second promotion strategy is Google Adwords. Let me get you some insight on Google Adwords. As the name suggests, it is ads by google in the form of words. It’s actually a PPC (Pay Per Click) campaign. In Google Adwords, we as a business company has to spend some money each day so that we could land on the first page of google by tweaking some techniques of SEO.
It has a very simple mechanism. If a user clicks on the ads shown in the result, the bidding company has to pay for it. Example, if we bided for “best online shopping website” with an amount of Rs 15 per click then, whenever a user clicks on the ad and visits our site, we would have to pay that amount. In this way, we could start to Google Adwords campaign which could help us to increase sales to the great extent.
The next in the list is Affiliate Marketing. It is known as the father of marketing.
Let me get you the overall strategy behind affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing is the way in which the brand owner, publisher and the customer are connected all together. It is a type of marketing in which a business owner sells his products to the consumer via the third party. The third party gets a commission out of it. In simple language, Mr. X has to promote the products of flipkart and if he brings the customer to our site and on the condition that if the customer makes a successful transaction, then Mr. X will get a referral commission from flipkart. This is known as affiliate marketing.

Social media marketing: The most underrated practice which is followed by the website owners or company is social media marketing. Social media like – twitter, facebook, google+, Instagram etc have a tremendous scope to give traffic to any business. It may crash your site! Crash in the sense that they could bring uncontrollably and countless traffic to your site.
The most suitable option for creating brand awareness is the CPM ad- cost per 1000 impression on facebook. It means that our ads will be just shown 1000 times on different user’s profile for the particular amount that we are bidding. If we bid $5 as CPM ad, then we would have to pay $5 for every 1000 impressions (views) of our ad. We can also earn through it, if the user clicks on the ad then we could get $0.23 as CPC ad- Cost Per Click.

Twitter marketing:
Twitter marketing is growing in an exceptionally amazing way. We could have a number of followers in the twitter so that we could build great subscribers out of it. The number of followers will imply more brand awareness and consequently more successful leads.
How to change the game of twitter marketing:
Always use the hash tag (#) before main keywords so that when people search anything related to that keyword, they could see our tweets easily.
Run contests and offer giveaways (products for free) to attract more customers. It is one of the surefire ways to attract customers by offering movie tickets for free or some incentives like cashback on purchase of some particular products or price.
Email marketing:
We could generate more customers with the help of this marketing technique.
How does it work?
Though, the customers who register to purchase any product at Flipkart become the subscriber of it, and if unfortunately due to out of stock of product or quitting of a customer, in this case, the they receive the email regarding the product when it’s once again in the stock.
Even the email helps to attract customers in season sales or sending the customers promotion mails regarding new arrivals and discount offers.
Advanced marketing techniques
This is to attract huge traffics like BIG BILLION DAY sale organized by Flipkart and even taking franchise of the products like Motorolla Moto G is exclusively available at Flipkart.
This is how digital marketing is spreading with light and fast speed. However, there are some cons of digital marketing, like -one has to invest huge bucks in promotions, hiring experts for designing promotional logos and ads.
Moreover, it is the best way to attract huge customers in just a short span of time and increase one’s revenue.
Digital Market is big, so knowledge, prior online marketing should also be vast!
